The Business Proposal

Byron was once a well-respected marriage counselor, until one embittered client began an onslaught of bad reviews, which caused other potential clients to balk at his so-called missing credential: He has never been married. Julie doesn't mind being single. The well-meaning people pushing her to be wedded are the problem: the nagging mother, the can't-take-a-hint coworker, and all the other acquaintances and their annoying, awkward setups. Well-intentioned or not, they are driving her crazy. She can't help but wish she could say she was married just to get them off her back. When Julie's friend jokingly hands her a newspaper ad seeking a platonic, pseudo marriage with a stipend attached, she wonders if it could silence her "problems" once and for all.
