Vi'eri Trueblade, the feared and hated hybrid, finds herself at the end of time. The death of the Realm. War looms, and the people of the world rally behind her, for they have but two options: Fight or Die.

Alone and afraid, she hides herself from the others, seeking solitude from their hateful glares.

However, one day, a young human asks her to tell him a story. A story from her troubled past. A story of how she brought this destruction upon them. Reluctantly, she agrees, regaling the young human with a tale of her life and its many failings.

Are the answers she seeks buried deep in a past, hidden behind her pain?
